Every citizen should apply for a new PAN card after they turn 18. PAN card creation has become lot simpler these days. You don’t have to go to a registrar’s office and waste lots of time in order to get a new PAN card, just fill up an online PAN card application form through NSDL or UTI and you’re done. You won’t get the PAN card instantly but the time has been reduced a lot as compared to before. Just a week or two after filling the form, your PAN card will be allotted and it takes only 15-20 days for it to get delivered.

After you’ve got your new PAN card, you should keep it safe. But, often, the PAN card either gets damaged or is lost by mistake. Don’t worry if this happens to you. You can get reprint duplicate copy of PAN card without any hassle.
You basically have two methods to do so; online or offline. The government has made the process lot simpler these days through the online mode. You can, however, get the duplicate copy in offline mode as well if in case you don’t know how the online method works.
Forgetting a reprint of PAN card, make sure you remember your PAN number. If you know your PAN number, you can get the copy easily by filling up the details. Even if you don’t remember your PAN code, you can get it by entering your first name, middle and last name and date of birth.
For filling up the form, you’ll have to go to the official website and download form 49. Then, enter all the details asked in the form. After filling up the form, you’ll have to attest the hard copy. Also, attach all the documents asked such as ID proof, photographs, address proof etc.
You’ll also have to lodge an FIR and get a copy of it. The FIR will work as a reference while you fill the form. Also, make a complaint to the nearest PS about your lost PAN card. Make sure you get an acknowledgment receipt which will prevent your PAN card being misused by someone if they get it.
